Why Midlife Mom?

IMG_1795I was tired, overweight and stressed to the point of being unhealthy. Very unhealthy; so much so that that I couldn’t really function. I was angry all the time, and I took bitter to a new level. I was unemployed, which was only partially my choice. It was partially because I was such a wreck that no one wanted to be around me. Something had to change, but no one could change this except me. Hundreds of job applications and multiple days of napping on the sofa later, I decided enough was enough.  I was taking control back.

Taking control started with my physical body.  I discovered that I didn’t need pills or programs. I could control my physical conditions. (I was fortunate not to have anything serious, which was checked first.)

I discovered bio-hacking, and it was life changing.

As soon as I had a handle on myself physically and had hacked myself into an energized state, my mind followed. I learned that I didn’t need to accept that my memory was failing in midlife. There was something I could do about it. I did, and as I did, people started take notice. My attitude improved greatly. I was no longer angry. I was actually happy, almost to the point of being annoying. I was active. I lost weight and looked healthy. Gone was the exhausted, overweight, tired midlife woman who had let herself go.

That’s when the questions started. What was I doing different? Why was I so happy? Where did I get all this energy? How can they do what I am doing? I tried to answer the best I could, but try explaining months of physical experimenting, mental gymnastics, and soul searching in a few sentences.

I set out to create road map to hack your system from the tired, stressed out midlife version of yourself back to an energetic, enthusiastic human again.  At first it was just to help my friends that were asking me what I was doing, but soon I was being asked by people I didn’t know. I found myself coaching folks I had never laid eyes on to change their lives. That is when I realized this was bigger than myself. There was an entire generation of people experiencing these same things at the same time I was. If I knew something that could change how they felt on a day to day basis, I needed to share it.

Enter Midlife Mom. The book came first. Videos and social media followed, and now the blog. The goal: help others hack themselves out of the midlife funk and into feeling amazing every day.  Women mostly. because we tend to feel worse, but men can, and do, use these same techniques. (I bio-hacked my husband before he realized what I was doing. Fortunately, by the time he did, he was already on board.)

IMG_1831What is bio-hacking? It is taking your system, body and mind, and engineering the output using food, supplements and the tricks and tips you will find here. Using bio-hacking, I have gone from a tired mess to feeling better than I did in my early twenties. I now live life on my own terms, physically charged and with a clarity of mind and a purpose that I have never experienced before.

So, how do you feel right now?  Are you ready to feel good again? Do you want more energy? Do you want to feel happy again? If you are ready for change, follow along. If not, you know where to find me now. On your worst day, remember this: you don’t have to feel like this anymore. You can change it. And I am here to help when you are ready.
